Right to Work
We talked about the right to work and how important it is to check who you are employing and you have proof that you have done so. The Association has details of what documents to use on the web site. Go to the members log in page and scroll down.
CQC gave us an update on the figures for the area, which showed that the West Midlands is behind the average for quality. We talked about CQC inspectors now understanding that you cannot do much with DoLS as all the local Authorities are behind, but you need to ensure you have put the applications in and have copies. We also talked about Forced care and we will have more information in the next Newsletter.
We had an interesting talk from the ICO about Data Protection and the need for Care Providers to take it seriously. There is free training on the ICO web site at www.ICO.org.uk. If members want a copy of the Guidance on how long documents should be stored then go to the Association web site and scroll down the members log on page.
Finally we looked at Fire Prevention in Homes and in the Community. The Association has contacts who can help with Risk Assessments and Fire Marshall training.
